Chris
Once in awhile you come across music that makes you stop whatever you're doing, just to listen more closely. You find yourself humming it through your day, it draws you in further - you are hooked.
Chris Torres is that music.
Music has flowed from him since age 6, drumming his heart out in the family band... Now, at age 28, this San Diego native has been promoting his 2006 album, From The Cranberry Sun. With a sound described by Chris as a "Woodstock burrito," From the Cranberry Sun offers a soulful edge to classic singer-songwriter rock.
Recorded by Aaron Prellwitz, (Neil Young, Death Cab for Cutie) Ben Moore (Switchfoot, Ravi Shankar),Engineered and By Jeff Winfrey (of San Diego's Convoy) From the Cranberry Sun debuted in April 2006 to rave reviews.
Chris said the album rose up out of a dark place. "All the lyrics and music were written as therapy to myself - uplifting myself with hopeful words and a good rock n roll beat. The music was just flowing through me. It was a very organic process. “
Chris's candor, depth, and not to mention highly captivating live show continue to draw larger audiences to his performances every where he goes. While spreading his music throughout the California coastline, Chris would return home to warm up shows for rock and acoustic artist such as Tim Reynolds, Buddy Miles,Jon Foreman,Donavan Frankereiter and Jack Johnson to name a few. After catching wind of Torres' hometown achievements,San Diego's House of Blues personally invited and hosted a residency for Torres every Thursday night for all of 2007.
Now the middle of 2008. Torres is constantly touring and working on his follow up record which is slated for release in early 2009.
